  1. Homework

Autumn Term Year 3

Spellings:

  • 5 spellings to practise each week – use different methods to practise these
  • Tested on these 5 spellings each Monday.
  •  The spelling test will also include 2 other words which follow the same spelling pattern so encourage children to   extend their knowledge of this spelling pattern..

Maths:

  • Practise times tables as much as possible using the TT Rock Stars website.
  • Each week teachers will set a paper based mathematics activity for children to complete which will be linked to things they have learnt that week.

Reading:

  •  Read at least three times a week with your child and sign in their planner.
  • Use the questions in your child’s homework book to support them with understanding the text they have read.

Topic:

  • Children will have a list of activities to complete throughout each half term. If children complete one a week, they will receive Dojo points. 

 


Autumn Term Year 4

Each week, your child will receive maths, spelling and reading homework.

Spelling:

  • 5-7 spellings to practise each week – use different methods to practise these.
  • Tested on these 5 spellings each Friday.
  • When a spelling rule is learnt, an additional 2 ‘unseen’ words will be tested to ensure the
    children have learnt the rule.

Maths: 

  •  Practise times tables as much as possible using the TT Rock Stars website.

Reading:

  • Read at least three times a week with your child and sign in their reading record or planner.
  • All children are expected to take an Accelerated Reader quiz at least every other week.

Topic:

  •  Children will have a list of activities to complete
    throughout each half term. If children complete
    one a week, they will receive Dojo points.

Autumn Term Year 5

  •  Maths: Practise times tables as much as possible using the TT Rock Stars website.
  •   Each week teachers will set a paper based mathematics activity for children to complete.
  •  Spellings: Spellings to practise each week – use different methods to practise these.
  •  Tested on these spellings each Friday – although some groups may vary, the children will be told if this is the case.
  •  English: A grammar/punctuation based activity in the homework book.
  •  Reading: Read at least three times a week with your child and sign in their reading record or planner.
  •  Use the questions in your child’s homework book to support them with understanding the text they have read.
  •  Topic: Children will have a list of activities to complete throughout each half term. Dojo points will be awarded. 


       

Spring Term Year 6

Homework

Spelling

  • 10 spellings to practise each week – use different methods to practise these.
  •  Tested on these 10 spellings each week.
  • The spelling test will be given in the style of a dictation where the children will be expected to also consider the grammar and punctuation they must use.

Reading

  • Read at least three times a week with your child and sign in their reading record or planner.
  • Use the questions in your child’s homework book to support them with understanding the text they have read.

Times Tables

  •  Practise times tables as much as possible using the TT Rock Stars website. 
  • Each week teachers will set a number of pages from the Arithmetic book.

Topic:
      Children will be given an open ended topic project where they can use their creativity and imagination to produce a                 project. This will go out before half term.
